MAIN FUNCTIONS
To ensure the safe, effective, and efficient management, dispensing, monitoring, and supply of medications, while providing pharmaceutical care, supporting clinical teams, maintaining accurate inventory records, and promoting optimal medication use and patient outcomes.
TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dispensing of drugs, documentation and monitoring of drugs usage for effective re-stocking.
- Giving advice and drug counseling to the Patients.
- Carrying out periodic stock-taking of drugs and materials for accountability.
- Informing Doctors of available drugs and prescription pattern.
- Estimating the quantity and value of drugs purchase. Follow-up of ordered drugs and reception of supplied drugs and materials.
- Documenting the reception and issuance of drugs and materials in the stock management software.
- Ensuring the security of the Pharmacy.
- Work closely with medical and nursing staff on the wards to ensure patients receive the most appropriate treatments, advising on the selection of medicines as well as dose and route of administration for patients.
- Improve medication use and optimize medication related outcomes
- Managing medication shortages by liasing with PHC pharmacy and using imprest funds for emergency situations
- Prescription monitoring, intervention and medicine reconciliation
- Reporting adverse effects of medication and pharmacovigilance
- Training and Supervision of Interns and Industrial Trainees
Job Requirement
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant professional experience in pharmacy practice.
- Current registration and licensing with the relevant professional regulatory body.
- Good knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication management, and pharmaceutical care.
- Strong knowledge of drug dispensing, prescription review, and medication reconciliation.
- Proficient in inventory, stock control, and pharmaceutical procurement processes.
- Good computer literacy and ability to use pharmacy/stock management software.
- Knowledge of pharmacovigilance and adverse drug reaction reporting.
- Strong understanding of medication safety and regulatory compliance.
- Good communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and record-keeping ability.
- Strong ethical standards, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Good supervisory, training, and problem-solving skills.
