MAIN FUNCTION
To lead and coordinate laboratory services across the PHC and Lagos Clinics, ensuring the delivery of safe, accurate, timely, and cost-effective diagnostic services while maintaining high standards of laboratory quality, equipment performance, regulatory compliance, supply management, and staff competency.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate laboratory operations across the PHC and Lagos Clinics.
- Supervise laboratory scientists and technicians, providing technical and administrative guidance.
- Ensure daily verification, calibration, and proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
- Oversee laboratory testing, with particular attention to Microbiology and other critical diagnostic services.
- Validate laboratory results before release to requesting medical practitioners.
- Implement and monitor laboratory quality control, quality assurance, and safety programmes.
- Ensure compliance with WHO laboratory safety standards, NAFDAC requirements, MLSCN regulations, and company HSE policies.
- Ensure proper registration and professional compliance of laboratory personnel and facilities.
- Manage patient registration, laboratory documentation, result confidentiality, and secure archiving of laboratory data.
- Coordinate the procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of laboratory reagents, consumables, and materials.
- Ensure continuous availability of quality laboratory supplies while minimizing wastage and stock losses.
- Monitor reagent expiry dates, storage conditions, and compliance with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) requirements.
- Manage laboratory procurement processes from Purchase Requisition (PR) through Goods Receipt (GR) within approved budgets.
- Coordinate maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment in collaboration with Biomedical Technicians and Quality Officers.
- Provide training and technical guidance on new laboratory equipment, reagents, procedures, and technologies.
- Maintain and update laboratory software systems, including Biowin, Prolablis, and other relevant platforms.
- Monitor laboratory performance and prepare monthly and annual activity reports.
- Liaise with external laboratories, suppliers, regulatory authorities, and other healthcare professionals as required.
- Ensure effective implementation of laboratory and HSE programmes across company clinics.
- Report incidents, unsafe acts, equipment failures, and operational risks to the appropriate management.
- Promote continuous professional development and ensure laboratory personnel maintain appropriate technical competencies.
- Keep abreast of developments in laboratory science, diagnostic technology, and modern laboratory practices.
Job Requirement
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a relevant laboratory science discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years' relevant laboratory experience, with at least 5 years at management level.
- Strong laboratory management and leadership experience.
- Good knowledge of procurement, budgeting, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in Biowin, Prolablis, SAP, or other relevant laboratory management software.
- Current professional registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality management, HSE, and regulatory requirements.
