Description
MAIN FUNCTION
To conduct economic evaluations and financial analysis of E&P projects, exploration and appraisal activities, new business opportunities, reserves, budgets, and long-term planning; develop and maintain economic models; and provide accurate economic assessments and recommendations to support project sanctioning, investment decisions, and strategic business planning.
TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively participate in delivering annual planning exercises: the E&P Long Term Plan, Budget, PRIME reserves calculation, Exploration & Appraisal budget, ASC932 Cash Flow reporting to the US stock exchange, etc.
- To carry out economic studies of development projects, exploration wells, new business deals, project sanction dossiers.
- To present and explain the results of economic studies to the Group’s decision authorities (i.e. Company management, CDEP, BR, COVAL, CORISK/COMEX).
- Maintain the economic model and the modelling recap with any changes regarding the economic environment.
- Prepare and maintain the Fiscal Summary Sheet of assets in charge with annual update.
- Develop improved interfaces with technical and financial entities to improve quality and deliverability of economic analysis.
- Take the lead in the development, audit and validation Microsoft Excel tools/models used for economic evaluations.
- Keep abreast of new approaches and proposed alternative approaches to economic studies.
- Deliver an economic assessment key to influence decision-making at the company level (COMEX).
- Deliver regular economic assessments to impact daily operations at the company level.
- Deliver business long-term plans, reserve evaluation exercises, and support finance on budget exercises.
- Ensure economic models are up to date with the latest fiscal regulation and comply with internal methodology.
- Develop economic models when necessary.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of economic models used by the company.
- Explain to key Company stakeholders and sometimes company-level economic results in a concise and simple fashion.
Job Requirement
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.
- Strong experience in Microsoft Excel and economic modelling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/VBA and high computer literacy.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Upstream oil & gas experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong synthesis, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to present clear and concise messages and escalate key issues to senior management.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
