MAIN FUNCTIONS
To ensure the 24/7 delivery of high-quality emergency and occupational medical services at the DW Lagos Clinic by supporting emergency response, patient stabilization and medical transfers, coordinating medical supplies and equipment, maintaining operational readiness, and supporting the continuous training and effective management of medical services in line with international standards
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide 24/7 first-line medical emergency response and support for critical medical cases.
- Conduct initial patient assessment, primary survey, triage, resuscitation, stabilization, and continuous monitoring pending the arrival of the doctor.
- Assist the Expatriate Doctor, Senior Medical Officer (SMO), and nursing team in the management of patients and medical emergencies.
- Perform authorized emergency procedures, including CPR, defibrillation, airway management, intubation, mechanical ventilation, sedation, and advanced pain management.
- Coordinate medical evacuation (medevac), rescue, patient transfers, and transportation to appropriate external healthcare facilities.
- Coordinate emergency response activities during major incidents and multiple-casualty events.
- Support offshore medical teams and coordinate with hospitals, clinics, and international medical facilities.
- Manage the procurement and supply of emergency drugs, medical consumables, equipment, and other medical supplies.
- Raise and follow up Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) through to delivery.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular checks of emergency drugs, consumables, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Monitor the availability, maintenance, and operational readiness of medical equipment, ambulances, medical gases, and emergency response resources.
- Supervise ambulance operations and coordinate with ambulance drivers to ensure timely emergency transportation.
- Maintain accurate medical activity records and prepare weekly, monthly, and annual medical activity reports and statistics.
- Manage expatriate medical consultations, hospitalization records, accounting, invoicing, and medical imprest activities.
- Coordinate medical services across OPD, IPD, nursing, emergency response, and other relevant medical departments.
- Conduct expatriate induction and provide health and safety awareness on hygiene, infectious diseases, malaria prevention, and other occupational health matters.
- Verify medical fitness documentation and ensure relevant certificates and medical records remain up to date.
- Organize and participate in emergency response drills, simulations, and debriefing sessions.
- Coordinate continuous medical education, technical training, and competency development for medical personnel.
- Ensure compliance with applicable medical standards, procedures, and international healthcare best practices.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, hospitals, medical providers, and international healthcare facilities to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
Job Requirement
SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- certified and registered nurse anesthetic
- expertise in difficult airway management
- 15 years of experience in anesthesia, emergency care and ICU
- 5 years of experience in expatriation context
- valid BLS/ACLS/ITLS certifications
- basic computer and office knowledge
