MAIN FUNCTIONS
We are seeking an experienced project electrical engineer to serve as the Company's resident electrical engineering authority across its facilities in Nigeria.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete electrical engineering lifecycle of capital projects and facilities management works, including design, technical review, construction supervision, quality control, contractor management, testing, compliance, and as-built documentation.
The role requires a highly experienced professional who can manage multiple projects and sites, work effectively with contractors and consultants, and ensure all electrical works comply with Company specifications, regulatory requirements, and international engineering standards.
TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop conceptual and detailed electrical designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Review and validate electrical designs, shop drawings, and technical submissions from consultants and contractors.
- Supervise electrical construction activities across Company locations and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Conduct site inspections, quality assurance/quality control checks, and identify and resolve defects and non-conformances.
- Supervise testing and approval of electrical materials, equipment, and installations.
- Prepare site inspection reports, punch lists, progress reports, and other technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance on electrical construction methods, sequencing, installation, and best practices.
- Coordinate electrical works with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.
- Monitor contractor and consultant performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Review completed works against approved-for-construction drawings before sign-off.
- Ensure electrical drawings and documentation are updated throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure accurate preparation and maintenance of as-built drawings and technical records.
- Support the development and improvement of company electrical standards, procedures, and engineering practices.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable HSE requirements and company procedures.
- Travel regularly to company locations as required by project and operational needs.
Job Requirement
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc./B.Eng.) in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 15 years' post-qualification experience in electrical engineering, construction, engineering consultancy, project engineering, or a related environment.
- COREN registration is mandatory.
- Proven experience delivering electrical engineering works throughout the project lifecycle, from design through construction and handover.
- Demonstrated experience in construction supervision and contractor/consultant management.
- Experience in oil & gas, energy, industrial, or large multi-site corporate environments is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design, construction standards, quality control, and applicable Nigerian and international standards.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of BIM and other engineering/design software is an advantage.
- Experience preparing and reviewing technical specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), drawings, and project documentation.
- Strong understanding of the interface between electrical, mechanical, structural, and architectural works.
- Excellent technical reporting, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
