JOB SUMMARY:
The Operations Director (Upstream) oversees all exploration and production activities within the organization's upstream sector. This role requires strategic leadership to enhance operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive the achievement of production targets while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with corporate goals and enhance overall production efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement best practices across teams.
- Lead major projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Build and lead high-performing teams, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Ensure all operations comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance compliance and risk management.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and productivity.
- Analyze data and reports to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial goals.
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, partners, and local communities, to foster strong relationships and support operational initiatives.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve operational efficiency and safety.
- Stay informed about industry trends and innovations to maintain a competitive edge.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 20+ years of experience in the upstream onshore/offshore oil and gas industry, with a minimum of 7 years in a top management role.
- Strong knowledge of exploration, drilling, production, and project management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Maintains a high degree of ethical conduct.
