Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Valve Mentor to join our offshore operations team.
- This position, under the Production Operations Fitters family, is open to expatriates (non-Nigerians) with extensive expertise in valve systems and a passion for mentoring and developing junior technicians.
- The role is critical for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of valve systems on offshore platforms such as FPSOs or rigs.
Position Overview
- As a Valve Mentor, you will lead and guide a team of valve technicians, providing technical expertise in valve maintenance, repair, and calibration.
- You will play a vital role in training, mentoring, and developing the skills of junior valve technicians to meet operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the inspection, repair, and maintenance of various valve systems, including isolation, control, and safety relief valves.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior technicians, ensuring their understanding of best practices and technical procedures.
- Supervise and participate in the calibration and testing of valve systems to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures for valves, ensuring equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Conduct regular valve inspections and oversee the preparation of detailed reports on their condition and performance.
- Ensure all valve systems adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations during maintenance and operations.
- Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of complex valve-related issues.
- Provide input into the development of spare parts inventory for valve systems and ensure availability of critical spares.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges and ensure seamless integration of valve systems into production processes.
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in valve maintenance, repair, and calibration.
- At least 5 years in offshore oil and gas operations or a supervisory role.
Certifications:
- Offshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
- Relevant certifications in valve systems maintenance, such as API 598 (Valve Inspection and Testing) or equivalent.
Technical Expertise:
- Advanced knowledge of different valve types (e.g., gate, globe, ball, check, safety relief, and control valves).
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools for valve troubleshooting and performance analysis.
- Mentorship Skills: Proven ability to train, mentor, and develop junior technicians.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
